To file your rental income through Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, you need to authorise Landlord Studio to connect to your HMRC account. This guide explains how to complete that authorisation from the Making Tax Digital setup page.
What you need to know
This applies to UK landlords filing under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment only
You must have a Government Gateway account linked to a property business with HMRC
You will need your Government Gateway user ID and password to complete the connection
Connect to HMRC
Step 1: Select "Making Tax Digital" from the left navigation, or go to Integrations > Making Tax Digital.
Step 2: Enter your National Insurance Number (NINO) in the field shown, then select "Authorise now". Landlord Studio will redirect you to HMRC to complete the connection.
Step 3: On the HMRC page, review the permissions Landlord Studio is requesting and select "Continue".
Step 4: Select "Sign in to the HMRC online service" and sign in with your Government Gateway user ID and password.
Step 5: Review the permissions listed and select "Give permission". HMRC will redirect you back to Landlord Studio.
β οΈ Note - Your HMRC authorisation lasts 18 months. After that, Landlord Studio will lose the ability to submit on your behalf until you reconnect.
Step 6. Landlord Studio will display "Authorisation successful" and step 1 in the setup checklist will show a tick.
