How to send a document for e-signature

Upload a PDF, add up to 20 recipients, and request electronic signatures from a property's Documents tab.

Written by Oliver Chiang

If you need a tenant to sign a lease, addendum, or any other PDF, e-sign lets you collect their signature directly inside Landlord Studio. This guide covers how to upload the document, add up to 20 recipients, and send the request.

What you need to know

  • The document must be a PDF.

  • Each recipient must be added to the property as a tenant, with a valid email address on their contact record, before you can include them.

  • Each request supports up to 20 recipients.

  • E-sign requests do not expire.

Send a document for e-signature

Step 1: Open the property from your "Properties" list.

Step 2: Select the "Documents" tab, then the "Lease documents" subtab.

Step 3: Select "+ New" in the top right of the table.

Step 4: In the "New document" modal, upload your PDF and add a description.

Step 5: Switch the "Invite to e-sign?" toggle on, then select "+ Add recipient" for each tenant who needs to sign.

โ„น๏ธ A recipient who does not have an email address on their contact record will appear disabled. Add an email to their contact details first, then return to this step.

Step 6: Select "Request signatures" to send the request.

Landlord Studio will email each recipient a "Your Signature Is Requested for [Property Address]" message with a link to the tenant portal to sign. The document will appear under the "Documents".

What recipients receive

Each recipient gets a branded email naming you and the property, with a "Sign document" button. Tenants who already have a Tenant Portal login can sign in directly. Tenants who do not have a login can sign without creating an account.
